Originally a spin-out from the University of Exeter, the Simpleware Product Group is now part of Synopsys, Inc., one of the largest software companies in the world. The Silicon Valley-based company has revenues of over $3 billion a year and has more than 15,000 employees worldwide, with Exeter as one of several key British locations.
The Simpleware Product Group develops software and services for going from 3D image data (such as MRI and CT) to virtual models that can be used to carry out design and simulation tasks, including 3D printing. The software is used for clinical applications, high-value manufacturing, and any industry that requires accurate reconstruction of complex structures from scans.
Simpleware software is used by numerous companies in the S&P 500, as well as by leading research institutions. In recent years, Simpleware software has been at the cutting-edge in terms of developing Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled solutions for medical images. Most of the members of the Simpleware Product Group at Synopsys are based in Exeter.
